BIRTHDAY PARTIES AT WHITE MEMORIAL

The White Memorial Conservation Center offers
Birthday Party Programs

Does your child have a special interest in turtles, snakes, frogs, birds, plants, or other parts of the natural world? Why not nourish that interest at a birthday celebration where they can have fun and learn at the same time?

The party includes a 45-minute presentation of your choice (see below), admission to the Nature Museum, and the option of reserving a space for your celebration. You may also request our Indoor Museum Scavenger Hunt that you can take on your own.

Group size is limited to 20 children.

Parents must supply decorations and all food. Ask about party favor bags available at the gift shop.

Give your child the gift of nature and celebrate their next birthday at White Memorial.

Fees:
WMCC Members - $85   Non-Members - $100

To schedule your party, call the Museum at 860-567-0857.

BIRTHDAY PARTY PROGRAM SELECTION
Owl Party WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ARE YOU?
Learn about all seven species of owls found in Connecticut. Each owl is represented with a stuffed specimen. Learn how to identify owls by listening to tape recordings of their calls. Meet Shakespeare, a live Barred Owl and find out what he has been eating by examining an owl pellet.
Ongley Pond EXPLORING LIFE IN ONGLEY POND
Scoop into the pond looking for aquatic insects, fish, and tadpoles. While enjoying this exciting hands-on activity, children will learn about metamorphosis, food chains, and other pond related information. Equipment will be supplied.
SCAVENGER HUNT, OUTDOORS
Explore the habitats around the Museum searching for nature discoveries. Animal tracks, mushrooms, moss, insects, birds, plants, and more will offer an overview of nature, while using all five senses.
BIRD BRAINS
Beginning with a close-up visit to the Center's Barred Owls and Red-tailed Hawk, the group will go out to the bird feeders, and then into the field and woods in search of more feathered friends. Children will discover what birds like to eat, what type of habitat they prefer, and some identification techniques. Imagine sparking a life-long interest in birding!
TURTLES AND SNAKES, OH MY!
Your birthday child and friends will have a close encounter with some of the Center's live reptiles. They may meet Corny the Corn Snake, Miss Piggy the Red-eared Slider, Rocky the Box Turtle, Jacob the Black Rat Snake, or other Center inhabitants. Snake skins, turtle shells, and other specimens will be on display for hands-on learning.
