EDUCATION
The White Memorial Conservation Center operates a Nature Center and Museum on the 4,000-acre property of the White Memorial Foundation. This expansive wildlife sanctuary provides an outstanding and diverse outdoor classroom. The Conservation Center staff utilizes the Museum and the natural surroundings to promote awareness, understanding, and respect for the nature world.

Programs are available at the White Memorial Conservation Center
or at your school or facility.

All programs meet part of the Connecticut Core Science Curriculum Framework.
Conceptual themes involved are, and the Roman numerals below refer to, the following:

I. Inquiry - How is scientific knowledge created and communicated?
V. Matter and Energy in Ecosystems - How do matter and energy flow through ecosystems?
VI. Structure and Function - How are organisms structured to ensure efficiency and survival?
VII. Heredity and Evolution - What processes are responsible for life's unity and diversity?
VIII. The Changing Earth - How do materials cycle through the Earth's systems?
IX. Energy in the Earth's Systems - How do external and internal sources of energy affect the Earth's systems?

INFORMATION AND FEES:
At Your School:
Cost: $160.00 and .55 cents per mile

Group Tours at the Museum:
Fee is $80.00 for each 45-minute tour per group
(30 children maximum per group).
Pre-school groups of smaller size are $70.00
for a 30-minute program.

Helpful Aids: Name tags, insect repellent, long pants and long-sleeved shirts are suggested, especially in the fall.

Lunch: Please bring trash bags with you. Recyclable soda cans and glass bottles may be rinsed and placed in appropriate barrels beside the big garage.
